During darker times in NYC’s pandemic journey, the Smashion pod let off steam with a three-person dress-up dinner party. This home video resulted. The night was all about real and fake food props, literal acrobatics and costumes galore. Highlights: 2014 vintage tops and beans neckstrap from Tokyo-based label runurunu, 2013 oversize Balmung backpack, and, of course, Rick Owens platforms. Truly inspired design takes us to a new world when a new world is just what’s needed.... An old Bernhard Willhelm body stocking and fetish gear from ‘90s cult shop Body Worship round out the fun.

Smashion’s favorite Irish chanteuse sings about losing her voice. Oh, the irony of it all! Because M.Sea, aka Mary Claire Woolley, has the voice of an angel and nothing can take that away from her. Smashion’s pandemic pod threw a party (number of attendees: three, because we’re nothing if not socially distant) and we couldn’t wait to share our home movie with you! This special night of dinner and dancing featured scrumptious confections, gorgeous getups from runurunu, Balmung, Rick Owens— all the legends—and a dance routine that gives Busby Berkeley a run for his money, if we do say so ourselves.
For an appetizer, we are serving up a preview clip of the dance portion of the evening. As for the moves, we are not giving lessons and reject the notion that we may in fact need lessons of our own!
